SelectorSpy Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 29, 2026

Overview

SelectorSpy is a browser extension that helps QA engineers inspect web page elements and extract their selectors for automated testing. This policy describes how the extension handles data.

Data Collection

SelectorSpy does not collect, transmit, or share any personal or sensitive data. The extension operates entirely within the user's browser.

When the user clicks on a page element, the extension reads the element's attributes (such as ID, class name, tag name) from the DOM to generate CSS selectors and XPath expressions. This data is stored locally on the user's device using chrome.storage.local.

Data Storage

All captured element data is stored exclusively on the user's device. No data is sent to external servers, APIs, cloud services, or any third party.

The user can delete all stored data at any time via the extension's "Clear All" button, or by clearing browser data.

Permissions

Third-Party Services

SelectorSpy does not integrate with, send data to, or use any third-party services, analytics tools, advertising networks, or tracking scripts.

Remote Code

SelectorSpy does not load or execute any remote JavaScript or WebAssembly code. All code is bundled within the extension package.

Children's Privacy

SelectorSpy is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes to This Policy

This policy may be updated if the extension's functionality changes. Any updates will be reflected on this page with a revised "Last updated" date.
